Funny how this section’s been empty until now, guess everyone was waiting for someone else to go first :)
So let’s open it right:
What’s your preferred opiate, and more importantly, why?
For me, it's tramadol. Might sound like a weird choice, especially when there are heavier options out there, but I’ve always liked how it sits in this strange middle ground.
It’s not harmless, obviously, it can definitely get addictive, but it’s not in the same league as full agonists. There’s a kind of safety buffer, or at least it feels like that compared to the deeper stuff. I don’t get the same "uh oh" energy from it.
What really makes it stand out, though, is the serotonin angle. That light mood lift on top of the body warmth - it’s just a really nice balance. It doesn’t feel like pure sedation or escape, more like everything gets a bit quieter and a bit brighter. Hard to explain unless you’ve felt it tbh.
Curious what others are into and what makes something "good" for you beyond just how strong it is.
I've tried pretty much every opioid except Fentanyl, Oxymorphone and Ketogan.
For effects alone, my favorite is without a doubt Morphine or Poppy tea (which pretty much is the same thing, feels about the same).
My overall favorite tho is actually buprenorphine. If I don't have any tolerance I think the effects are actually better then most other opioids, including heroin (I don't inject). It's cost effective and doesn't give me as much side effects that I get from other opioids. The negative thing about it tho is when you are used to it and have tolerance, taking more doesn't really give more effects, its strange like that.
With morphine you can just take more. It's pricey and harder to get tho.
Heroin is supposed to turn into morphine in the body, but for me they feel different. Morphine makes my body itch more (good itch), and I get more of that nice "warm/bliss" feeling.

Yeah I feel you on all that. Morphine really is something else when it hits right, super warm, cozy, kinda dreamy. That itch is weirdly nice too, not annoying like with some others. Poppy tea gave me a similar vibe the few times I tried it, just longer and a bit rougher on the stomach maybe.
And yeah, bupe is strange but in a good way. I get what you mean, when you’ve got no tolerance, it can feel amazing, like super clean and clear-headed but still warm and nice. It doesn’t hit like the others, but that ceiling effect makes it kind of safe in a way. Sucks when you try to push it though, it just won’t go further no matter what you do lol.
Heroin never did it for me either the way it’s "supposed to", i always found morphine more satisfying in the body. Heroin felt more cloudy and short lived for me.

yeah I’ve looked into O-DSMT a bit but from what i've read it doesnt really keep that serotonin effect that makes tramadol feel pretty unique to me

Loved your O-DSMT! Bought a few grams on FS before opting to move to Catharsis but I was expecting maybe a stronger kratom/tram, which it was, but not like 3 times as potent! Was always a bit worried when taking tram bc of the risk of seizures at higher doses, so I never felt that I could relax enough for it to be enjoyable. But your odsmt was very enjoyable! Very classic opioid feeling; warm, relaxed/sedated and much euphoria/bliss. It´s true its lacking the serotinin angle tramadol has but that does not bother me. When I use opiates i want that classic opi feeling. If Im in the mood for stimulants and amphetamines il take that instead. Also like how potent it is, and how long it lasts.

As for my favorite opioid it would probably be the pressed oxymorphone 20 or 40mg that pops up from time to time, love that one, especially the orange pill version that was sold on Arch a year or so ago, or the oval white one. Especially when smoked on foil. God damn after a few puffs you melt into yourself, start nodding/collapse into the sofa drooling with pleasure and its total euphoria from there. Beats every other opioid ive tried, and ive tried many.
Now the downside of course is how short the high lasts, and that the tolerance skyrockets very fast. So for me its best used on rare occasions when I can find some (I smoke/snort all the pills ive bought until its gone and then take the withdrawals) and Its about as strong as im comfortable going, don't want to use needles or go into even stronger zenes which seems impossible to dose in a safe way. Close second would be methadone with no tolerance or 80mg oxys followed by o-dsmt at the moment.

Glad you found us here on Catharsis :)
Yeah higher doses of Tramadol can be quiet risky thats a big downside for regular tramadol that O-DSMT doesnt have.

Only tried heroin once, tried morphine a couple of times, both of them seemed kind of "empty", with heroin it was just a big nothingness. However, opium contains all the alkaloids of the poppy plant, with all their combined healing properties. It's the perfect medicine for many ailments. It's been used for millennia, it was popular in ancient Egypt amongst nobility, in Crete as well. As long as you show the poppy plant the proper respect and reverence, and don't abuse it, it will be the most loving ally.
